The Mee Toh School is closely associated with the temple. Venerable Kong Hap had originally wanted to build a new temple, the Mee Toh Temple, next to Leong San Buddhist Temple. However, he dropped the plan in 1951 as he realised that there was a greater need for a school to provide education for the children living in the surrounding attap houses. First established as the Leong San School within the compounds of Leong San Buddhist Temple, the school provided free tuition, using Mandarin as the medium of instruction. Initially only four classes were started. Later when Venerable Kong Hiap raised the necessary funds, the site adjacent to Leong San Buddhist Temple was acquired to build the new Mee Toh School in 1954.
The name Mee Toh means ‘Etemal Brightness” and the school flag was designed with the prominent Buddhist symbol of the Swastika using the colours red, whiteand green. The school’s motto is compassion, kindness, purity and integrity.
The school was directly managed by the administrators of Leong San Buddhist Temple until 1957 when it became a government-aided school. The school is still closely linked with the temple. On any given school day, one can still see boisterous young boys and girls running from shrine to shrine bearing joss-sticks and kneeling to pray to deities within the hall.
In 2004, the school shifted to its new premises in Punggol, though it continues to be closely linked to the Leong San See Temple.
弥陀小学与寺庙渊源深厚。广洽法师最初打算在龙山寺旁边兴建一座名为“弥陀”的新寺庙。然而，他在 1951 年意识到为周边亚答屋居民子女提供教育的学校需求更大，于是放弃了建新寺庙的计划。
学校最初名为龙山学校，设在龙山寺庙内，以中文为教学媒介，提供免费教育。最初只有四个班级。后来，广洽法师筹集到必要的资金，于 1954 年在龙山寺庙附近收购了一块地皮，建造了新的弥陀小学。“美弥陀” 之意为 “永恒的光明”， 校徽则以红色、白色和绿色为主色调，并融入了显眼的佛教符号 – 卍 字。学校的座右铭是慈悲、仁爱、纯洁和正直。
在 1957 年成为政府资助学校之前，学校一直由龙山寺庙的管理人员直接管理。学校仍然与寺庙保持着密切的联系。在任何一个上学的日子，人们仍然可以看到一群群充满活力的男孩和女孩手持香火，从一个神龛跑到另一个神龛，跪拜大殿内的神灵。
2004 年，学校搬到了位于榜鹅的新校舍，但仍与龙山寺保持着密切的联系。
